John Good Group’s Employee Giving Programme
The John Good Group Employee Giving Programme empowers our employees to direct charitable donations to causes they care about in a wide range of ways. As well as supporting the company’s three pillars of People, Planet, and Performance, the programme also supports employee engagement by giving our team members numerous opportunities to make a positive impact on society. As a result, the programme fuels our passion to deliver social good and gives our teams the rewarding experience of engaging directly with the charities they support.

Grants for Good is our way of supporting small local charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises. Organisations are awarded direct funding to help them raise awareness, grow their offering, and increase the impact they have on a daily basis.
John Good Group makes it easy for our employees to support causes that are close to their hearts through a £500 donation. This one-off grant can be awarded to any small charity, voluntary group or social enterprise that delivers critical work or services.
We believe that volunteering is great for our employees as well as not-for-profit organisations. That’s why we offer paid time off to volunteer, as it gives charities invaluable support and simultaneously benefits the wellbeing of our team members.
Pro bono work is different from the traditional route of donating money or goods, but it’s no less powerful. It involves John Good Group and its employees providing free services to those in need, which could range from operational advice and marketing know-how to supporting a particular project through expert guidance and recommendations.
John Good Group greatly admires employees who take time out of their lives to support charities, which is why we take the amount you’ve raised and donate twice as much. In other words, for every £1 you raise, we donate £2. As a result, every £1 becomes £3 for the charity.
Donation Match is when we match the amount an employee has personally donated to a cause. For example, if they donate £10 to a charity or fundraiser, John Good Group will also donate £10. This can be given to any charity, there are no restrictions. It really is that simple and it means that every donation you make will be doubled by your employer!
Every month, all John Good Group employees are placed into a draw and the winner receives £250 to give to a charity or community project of their choice. This means that even if an employee has been particularly busy lately and hasn’t taken part in any charitable activity or fundraisers, they still have the chance to support a cause which is important to them.
Our Charitable Foundation

Our charitable Foundation was the idea of brothers Matthew and Tim Good, sixth-generation custodians of the John Good Group. Driven by a deep desire to positively impact the world and their local communities, Matt and Tim decided to establish a foundation for the family business to support, empower employees, and champion causes they cared about.
Just before the charity was set to launch in 2011, Matt took part in the Humber Half Marathon to raise funds for a school in Uganda. Tragically, Matt collapsed during the run and passed away at the age of just 32. Determined to bring Matt’s vision to reality, Tim launched the Foundation in Matt’s memory, naming it the Matthew Good Foundation.

Since its creation, the Foundation has made a significant difference, and we’re incredibly proud that it has donated over £1.25m to good causes through our employee giving programme and a range of other initiatives that support and amplify small charities.
We’re delighted that the Foundation allows us to share our expertise in charitable giving programmes and value collaborating with like-minded businesses interested in social impact. And, with the John Good Group covering all of the Foundation’s operating costs, we ensure that 100% of all donations go towards amplifying small charitable organisations.
