Overview
First opened in 2021 in response to a growing number of tragedies at the Humber Bridge, this wellbeing hub situated at the peaceful Humber Bridge Country Park provides emotional wellbeing support to the whole community, from those looking to have a cuppa and a chat, those looking for a like-minded group to enjoy the woodland with, or those in need of referral to specialist support.
The Humber Wellbeing Hub first opened in 2021 in response to a growing number of tragedies at the Humber Bridge. Working with the Humber Bridge Board and local authorities, The Humber Wellbeing Hub was opened at the Humber Bridge Car Park to provide a much-needed community resource, providing a safe, welcoming environment, staffed with trained volunteers, offering information, support and advice.
Since opening the hub, local volunteers have been helping people and saving lives just by being available to talk. Hundreds of people have accessed the facility, with many having been supported in-depth and referred to more specialist support. Others just often pop in for a cuppa and a chat, which many say is all they need to feel like they are out and about and meeting people.
The hub has also grown into a place for residents to get involved in a wide range of activities and support services that promote health and wellbeing, supporting individuals to improve their quality of life, in the beautiful surroundings of the Country Park.
With some sessions delivered by their own experts and volunteers, and others by external partners, they currently provide:
- Walk & Talk Sessions
- Menopause Support Group
- Carers Support Service
- Bereaved Parent Support Group
- Andys Man Club
- Pregnancy Yoga
- Boxercise
As well as timetabled activities, the hub is open to the public every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for open sessions, manned by volunteers who sell refreshments and are on hand to offer a range of wellbeing advice and support. The volunteers also regularly go out into the wider community in the local area to promote the activities of the hub.
The hub would like to be able to increase the number of trained volunteers they have, increase the sessions they offer and increase their opening hours, to be available to support more members of the community. They are also looking to increase awareness of the hub in the local area.
The Grants for Good funding of £5,000 will go towards the cost of increasing their activities including volunteer expenses, training, DBS checks & communication materials.
At the heart of our mission lies the profound desire to bridge the digital divide, empowering young individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Often, these youth remain in the peripheries, having limited or no access to the technological tools that many of us take for granted. With your support, we aim to change that narrative.
Every camera and tablet we buy, every software we subscribe to, and every laptop we distribute serves as a testament to our shared vision: a world where every young individual, irrespective of their socio-economic background, can access and thrive in the digital realm.
