Alan Platt, CEO of the John Good Group, will join a panel of experts in a bitesize virtual conference, to discuss the changes in freight movement and the effect it is having on short sea shipping and the supply chain. Topics will include the shift from road haulage to towards short sea routes, expanded Europe to UK routes, increased routes direct from Europe to Ireland, as well as the impact on warehousing. Panellists will also reflect on whether these changes will only be short term – or if this shift will prove long term.
The Coastlink Conference is a neutral pan-European network promoting short sea shipping, and its intermodal transport networks, where industry professionals meet to discuss the challenges and opportunities affecting the industry and develop partnerships.
Coastlink Live is the first online event to be run by Coastlink. This year’s conference at the Port of Antwerp has been delayed until September 2021 due to coronavirus, however the live event will give industry professionals the chance to keep networking and discussing post-brexit issues virtually.
The session will be moderated by Nick Lambert, Director of NLA International, and Justin Atkin, UK & Ireland Representative for the Port of Antwerp will deliver the opening welcome address. Joining them, the expert panel of speakers are:
– Stephen Carr, Group Commercial Director, Peel Ports – Liverpool
– Alan Platt, CEO, John Good Group
– Alex Veitch, General Manager – Public Policy, Logistics UK
