Matthew Good Foundation reveals second round of Grants for Good Finalists

The Matthew Good Foundation has announced five fantastic finalists for its second round of Grants for Good. John Good Group employees can now vote for their favourite good cause. The more votes a cause receives, the bigger the donation. The project that receives the most votes will receive a grant of £3,500; second place £2,500, third place £2,000 with fourth and fifth place both receiving £1,000.

In the latest round, the Foundation received over 300 applications, so it was incredibly difficult for the panel to choose only five finalists when the standard was so high.

Employees of the John Good Group now have three weeks to vote for their favourite. The finalists are:

 


Apple Tree Farm

Apple Tree Farm is a care farm based in North Devon, offering educational and therapeutic sessions for children and young people with disabilities and special needs. It was created by Brenda and her husband when they discovered firsthand how beneficial animals could be for children and young people with additional needs.

When the site that the Friends of Garrowby Orchard look after was handed into the care of local residents, they began to do something quite extraordinary.

They spoke with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and under their guidance set about transforming a mundane bit of land into an oasis for both people and wildlife.

High Peak Homeless Help

High Peak Homeless Help exists to assist homeless people, those experiencing housing-related issues, and address the root causes of homelessness in their area. They support people in and around High Peak and the Peak District, including people who come into their area from the surrounding cities.

R;pple Suicide Prevention

R;pple Suicide Prevention was founded by Alice Hendy. Alice lost her only sibling, Josh, on 25th November 2020 to suicide at 21 years old. Josh had been researching techniques to take his own life via harmful internet searches.

With a background in cyber technology and security, Alice saw an opportunity to intercept this harmful content and set up R;pple Suicide Prevention to ensure more help and support is given to individuals searching for harmful content online.

Tigers4Ever

Tigers4Ever is a small UK registered charity run by a board of volunteer Trustees who donate their time to help give wild tigers a wild future. This small charity operates in Bandhavgarh National Park in India. It implements community-focused tiger conservation projects such as anti-poaching patrols, educational programmes and the creation of new safe, permanent waterholes for tigers and other wild animals whose natural water sources have been affected by climate change.

The Grants for Good Fund supports small charities, groups, and individuals passionate about making a difference to people, their community, or the environment. The fund is open to brand new projects with innovative ideas and established charities whose average income is less than £50,000 per year.
