Matthew Good Foundation
At the John Good Group, we strive to make a meaningful impact on our communities and the world around us. That’s why we created the Matthew Good Foundation.
Formed in memory of Matthew Good
The Foundation was established following the passing of Matthew Good, on June 26th 2011 while running a marathon for charity. He was the 6th generation to work in our family business and was incredibly passionate about making a positive difference to our employees and our communities, both in the UK and abroad. Since then, the John Good Group donates money to the Foundation every year to enable charitable giving by the business and its 300 employees.
Empowering employees to make a difference
Employees can apply to the Foundation in several ways to support good causes close to their hearts. From monthly draws to win donations for the charity of their choice to championing small voluntary initiatives, double matching staff fundraising efforts and providing funds and guidance to start their own grass-roots projects, the Foundation offers a multitude of opportunities for employees to give back to their communities.
As well as financial giving, we also donate time to the Foundation by giving employees paid time off work to volunteer, whether its hands-on practical tasks or using the specialised skills and talents of our employees to help charities achieve their goals.
Elevating small charities and local initiatives
The Foundation donates and works closely with small charities and local causes that often need the most help – working in this way makes our financial giving highly efficient. To date, the Foundation has awarded grants of over £385,000 to causes close to the hearts of our employees.
