We are thrilled to announce that John Good Group and the Matthew Good Foundation are finalists for the Corporate Foundation Award at the Third Sector Business Charity Awards. This is an incredible recognition of the outstanding support we have given to the charity sector since 2011.
Firstly, we want to say a thank you to Sailors’ Children’s Society for putting us forward for this award. It was Natasha Barley’s idea to put John Good Group forward for the accolade and we couldn’t be more grateful. Also, a big thank you to Rhiannon, Head of Fundraising and Marketing, who was responsible for writing our award submission!
Natasha said, “The Matthew Good Foundation is completely different to any other foundation we have worked with. Their support has been far-reaching and covered so many layers. The foundation first started supporting us by funding a promotional film to help with our fundraising efforts. They then raised £20,000 for us through the Bridge2Bridge Challenge, an event they have now gifted to our charity to grow further.
John Good Group have generously provided office space for 18 months while we secured a new building, and their CEO, Adam Walsh, has become a mentor to me. The whole John Good Group family has welcomed Sailor’s Children’s Society into their own, and we couldn’t be more grateful. They truly are a force for good.”
The Matthew Good Foundation, established by the John Good Group in memory of Matthew Good, embodies a visionary approach to corporate philanthropy. Created after Matthew’s untimely passing in 2011, the Foundation channels the ethos of its founders—Matthew and his brother Tim—combining the success of a sixth-generation family business with a deep commitment to positive social impact.
By dedicating a proportion of profits annually, the John Good Group ensures the Foundation has distributed over £1.5 million to charities since inception, with a focus on empowering employees to direct charitable giving. Its innovative five-year strategy targets small charities, a vital yet underfunded segment of the UK charity sector, offering accessible funding, practical support, and bespoke programmes.
We can’t wait to attend the awards evening on Thursday, 8th of May with other incredible organisations who are in the finalist category.
